Wonderful things start to happen from the time you arrive in Papua
New Guinea; the vivid colours and startling faces coupled with that marvellous smell of warm earth, sunshine and
tropical plants immediately convey to your senses you are on vacation. On your Air Niugini flight to Port Moresby
to Hoskins in West New Britain, you will also realise that this is no ordinary vacation. Mountain ranges that top
14,000 feet divide the main island. The deeper valleys remained isolated until early this century; the land you
fly over is occupied by people who have 700 different languages and cultures that are just as diverse.
Walindi, located on the north coast of New Britain is world
renowned. The resort's guest book reads like a Who is Who in the world of sport diving and underwater photography.
Voted as 'the best diving resort anywhere in the world' by reader surveys, the staff and hospitality at Walindi
will ensure your stay is memorable. Above water, fern draped bungalows nestle amongst the rainforest along the
beach front. Walindi is not a large dive resort and that's the way we like to keep it. Catering for a maximum of
twenty-four guests means you receive the undivided attention you deserve, yet the freedom to feel every dive has
been made for you alone. Good company, great food, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere provide the perfect
background while you enjoy the delights of Kimbe Bay. Underwater, Kimbe Bay supports an incredibly diverse marine
habitat. World famous dives with names like Ema, South Bay, Inglis Shoal, North Ema, Christine's, Susan's, and
Restorff Island are only a few of the more than 200 reefs and dive sites sprinkled throughout Kimbe Bay. All are
pristine and untouched by a rigid policy of "Look but don't touch."
70% of all coral species in the Indo-Pacific region are found in Walindi's waters. No other dive area in the world
can boast such diversity. Walindi management policy is committed to supporting this unique ecology both below and
above the water. To this end, the resort is supporting the establishment by the European Union of a Nature and
Marine Research Centre within the resort grounds, which will continue to monitor and research all aspects of Kimbe
Bay and West New Britain ecosystems.
